DESCRIPTION:Join the Software Engineering Workshop in Braunschweig! \nBraunschweig is a historic student city in Northern Germany and neighbour to Volkswagen’s headquarters in Wolfsburg — one of the largest automotive sites in Europe. \nThe Workshop \nOver three workshop days\, you will move from writing scripts to thinking like a software engineer. The programme is built around a single continuous project — FactoryFlow\, a manufacturing line monitor — that grows more capable with every session\, so every concept you learn is immediately applied to a real problem. \nYou will start with professional fundamentals: setting up a proper development environment\, working with Git\, and writing clean\, maintainable code. From there\, you will build a data pipeline on synthetic sensor data\, expose it as a web API\, and turn the results into an interactive dashboard — all in Python. On the final day\, you will raise your code to industrial-grade quality by writing tests and work with containers. \nBy the end\, you will have shipped a tested\, containerised web service you built yourself. \nRequirements  \n•    Laptop required (please bring your own device)  \n•    Administrator rights on your device  \n•    At least 10 GB of free storage  \n•    Basic Python knowledge is helpful\, but not required  \n•    Please do not use a company-issued device\, as IT restrictions may prevent installing the required software  \n•    A detailed setup guide will be sent after the application period\, so you can arrive ready for Day 1  \nIf you know what a loop and a function are\, you are already well prepared. SUMMARY:PEAK: Wandering Through Finland
DESCRIPTION:Early bird applications! \nWe will have early bird applications until 30.4\, after which we will register 5 applicants so they can book their flights quicker! \nNow onto the fun part! \nGet ready to explore the beauty of Finnish nature! This event hosted by LG Lappeenranta takes you to Repovesi National Park located in Kouvola. The park\, known for its dotted lakes and ponds\, campfire huts and rugged hills offers exciting adventures for both experienced and new hikers. On this trip you’ll have the chance to take a dip in the lakes\, visit a forest hut\, take in the views at an observation tower and cook pancakes around the campfire!  \nThis event is organized in collaboration with LG Lappeenranta’s mother organization\, which gives participants the chance to network with each other as well as IEM students from LUT-University.  \nHow do I get to Lappeenranta? \nLappeenranta is located in southeast Finland\, and the easiest way to get here is to fly to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and take a train or bus to Lappeenranta. You can find a detailed guide on how to get to Lappeenranta HERE 🙂 \nThe Agenda of the PEAK goes as follows.  \nThe participants should arrive in Lappeenranta at the latest on the 16th of September\, where on the first night we will have some get-to-know activities. The second and third day will be spent learning survival skills such as backpacking\, cooking and overall safety in the forest with some Finnish student culture sprinkled here and there. For the first three nights\, you will be hosted by students near the campus.  \nWe will leave for Repovesi early on the morning of the 19th of September\, so be ready to be on time. We will be hiking the Kaakkurinkierros trail for three days in total\, each day the trek will be around 8-9 kilometers (you can find info on the trail here) and a longer route for more experienced hikers if they wish to take it. No need to stress about the distance\, we will make sure everybody keeps up regardless of your experience level! During the hike we will have different activities and spots for everyone to visit\, such as the Olhavanvuori observation point\, you get to travel over the lake by the Ketunlossi ferry and even have a Finnish sitz party in the forest!  \nWe will return to Lappeenranta during the day of the 21st of September\, where we will have dinner and a relaxing selfcare sauna night near the campus. The last day will not include any activities\, except for breakfast for those who have time for it before their flight. \nWhat if you’ve never been hiking before?  \nNo worries\, we will make sure that everyone is able to enjoy the hikes even if you are a newbie! The participation fee will include the transport to Repovesi and back\, lunches\, dinners\, the rent for the forest hut and sauna nights back in Lappeenranta! We highly recommend bringing your own camping equipment if you are able to do so\, we can rent some tents and sleeping bags from other clubs but the amount of equipment is highly limited and we can’t confirm their availability yet. DESCRIPTION:EYC Study Session: Human Rights Education Against Sexual Harassment\nReady to help shape a safer\, more inclusive future for ESTIEM and other youth NGOs? \nJoin the European Youth Centre (EYC) Study Session on Human Rights Against Sexual Harassment in Strasbourg from 20 to 26 September 2026. \nOrganised in cooperation with experts from the Council of Europe Youth Department\, this seminar is a human rights-based safety intervention and harassment prevention activity that equips you with actionable tools and an in-depth understanding of the topic\, focusing on practical application within international youth NGOs to ensure long-term sustainability and reproducibility within ESTIEM and our partner organisations. \nBy joining this study session\, you will focus on three main objectives: \n\nHuman Rights: Reach a solid understanding of the overarching background of human rights\, and gain a deeper understanding of the human rights connected to gender-based violence\, discrimination\, sexual harassment\, and verbal abuse.\n\n\nPrevention: Collaboratively develop actionable tools and guidelines for Safety Contact Persons (SCPs). You will learn how to support organisers in creating a safer\, more inclusive\, and thoughtful environment in international events by assessing activities\, adding withdrawal places\, and conducting safety assessments.\n\n\nIntervention: Gain the toolkit and confidence needed to intervene in cases of harassment in a youth NGO context. Using an actionable toolkit\, you will learn how to provide support\, facilitate communication regarding the situation\, and handle follow-ups appropriately. The session will also clarify the authority and boundaries of confidentiality given to trained SCPs. \n\nIn addition to these core pillars\, we will work on drafting guidelines against sexual harassment and verbal abuse while refining our reporting and arbitration processes. We will also focus on clarifying how anonymous reports are managed and developing a common understanding regarding the organisational position of the reported person. SUMMARY:Herbst-HGV 2026 in Stuttgart
DESCRIPTION:Die Hochschulgruppenversammlung (HGV) stellt die Kommunikations- und Gestaltungsplattform für Aktivitäten und Vorhaben der Studierenden im VWI dar. Neben dem Informationsaustausch werden hier vereinsbezogene Entscheidungen getroffen. So werden zum einen die Studentischen Vertreter in den Bundesvorstand gewählt und zum anderen die Austragungsstandorte aller bevorstehenden studentischen VWI-Events – so auch der HGV – beschlossen. Die offiziellen Sitzungen dienen als Plenumsdiskussionen über die Belange der studentischen Mitglieder sowie als Schnittstelle zwischen Hochschulgruppen- und Vorstandsarbeit. Neben den VWI Hochschulgruppen sind auch weitere Organe des Verbandes anwesend\, wie etwa die Geschäftsstelle\, das Bundesteam und Mitglieder des Vorstands\, die von ihrer Arbeit berichten. Dieser Austausch schafft große Synergieeffekte innerhalb des Verbands und ermöglicht den engen Kontakt zu ordentlichen Mitgliedern. Die Erweiterung des persönlichen Netzwerks wird hier gelebt\, wie nirgendwo sonst. \nResultierend aus seiner fundamentalen Bedeutung für den Verband ist die HGV das größte Event unter den studentischen Veranstaltungen des VWI und verzeichnet bei jeder Austragung 100 bis 150 Teilnehmer – eine besondere Herausforderung für die ausrichtende Hochschulgruppe. Die Sitzungszeit steht im Vordergrund der Veranstaltung und wird durch die Studentische Vertretung geleitet. Daneben runden Arbeitsgruppen und eine Firmenkontaktmesse\, sowie Workshops und Trainings\, mit denen der Kontakt zur Wirtschaft gesucht wird\, das Programm ab. Außerdem wird die Sitzungszeit gezielt mit Unternehmensvorstellungen und -präsentationen gespickt\, um den Teilnehmern auch neue berufliche Perspektiven zu eröffnen.
